Enthusiasts of motor boating, water skiing, sailing, swimming and fishing have found both Lake Wawasee and Lake Syracuse the Mecca of Indiana's unspoiled natural environment.

Sunbathers at Lake Wawasee find the "sand bar," located about 500 yards from the south shore a perfect place to work on their tans. Only accessible by boat, the two acres of the sand bar lie in a centralized location that is perfect for refreshing swims and long summer naps. A terrific selection of parks is spread throughout both lakes' shores, too.

Residents and visitors have a variety of ways to set upon the lakes’ waters. Boaters can use the Lake Wawasee’s southeastern shore’s free public boat ramp or the boat ramps of several local marinas on both lakes. If you don’t own your own craft, local marinas also rent fishing and pontoon boats and jet skis. Lake Wawasee’s two yacht clubs sponsor a variety of regattas that punctuate the lake with brightly-colored sail boats. Access from Lake Wawasee to Syracuse Lake is available through the main channel making your transition from one to the other as smooth as the lakes’ tranquil surfaces.

Both Lake Wawasee and Lake Syracuse are famous for their variety and fish and fauna. Fishers relish the chance to pull in bluegill, largemouth bass, yellow perch, banded killfish, brown bullhead, green sunfish and many more. The area doesn’t slow down much in the colder months, as year-round residents also enjoy a variety of seasonal cultural events, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and ice boating.

Located near the city of Syracuse, both lakes are surrounded by other entertainment options in nearby Warsaw, Goshen and other surrounding twons. Residents enjoy numerous area golf courses, movie theaters and fine dinning. Shoppers can also enjoy some very distinct local cultural opportunities provided by Amish Acres, Essenhaus and Shipshewana located nearby.
